Meet Raven | Founder of Wearing My Truth

Liver transplant recipient, advocate, and creator of awareness-driven apparel.

Hello and welcome to Wearing My Truth. I’m Raven Martin — liver transplant recipient and the heart behind the brand.

There’s a saying that the most difficult paths often lead to the most beautiful destinations, and my journey has proven that to be true. In 2009, I was 30 years old, relatively healthy, and living a full life as a wife, mother of two, and graduate student working as a public health professional.

After returning from a family trip to Disneyland, I began experiencing abdominal pain and jaundice. Over time, my health declined, and in 2010 I was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), a rare autoimmune liver disease. As the disease progressed, it eventually led to liver failure.

On August 3, 2022, I received a life-saving liver transplant — a gift made possible by the selfless generosity of a donor and their family. That second chance at life changed everything.

As I continue to heal, I’ve committed to sharing my story to help others. Wearing My Truth exists to support liver and kidney transplant candidates, amplify the need for living donors, and spark conversations that can save lives.

With gratitude to EMAT (Educating Minorities About Transplants, Inc.) for amplifying this story.
